House of Antikkhana, 70s, nineteenth century   watch on blog . All pictures are optimized and have a collorized copy

It is the first museum established in Egypt to preserve Egyptian artifacts and present them to the public; it was built in the reign of Mohammed Saeed Basha bin Mohammed Ali in 1858; and the location was then the same place where the building of Radio and Television/Maspero currently.

In the late nineteenth century, and specifically in 1891, the artifacts were moved from the antiquekhana for display in the Giza Secrets, they were located in the Giza Zoo; this was due to the Nile Flood which drowned the antique building and exposed the artifacts to damage.

In 1902, after completion of construction, the artifacts were moved again to the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square
